Cookie & Ad Disclosure

Last updated: June 21, 2026 · Effective: June 21, 2026
This page explains how Clear Mint uses cookies, tokens, and your browser’s local storage, and our stance on advertising and tracking. It supplements our Privacy Policy. It applies to clearmint.ca, the Clear Mint web app, and related services (the “Service”), operated by Clear Mint, Inc.

1. What we use

Clear Mint uses a deliberately small set of browser technologies, and only what is needed to sign you in and run the app:

TypePurposeCategory
Session token / auth cookieKeeps you signed in and authenticates your requestsStrictly necessary
Local storage cacheOffline-first copy of your data so the app loads fast without a constant connectionStrictly necessary
Preference keysRemembers settings such as auto sign-out timing and display choicesFunctional

We do not use third-party advertising, marketing, or cross-site tracking cookies.

2. Strictly necessary cookies & tokens

These are required for the Service to work. They keep you signed in, secure your session, and let the app communicate with our servers. Because they are essential to a service you have requested, they do not require separate consent. Blocking them will prevent you from logging in or using core features. Signing out clears your session.

3. Local storage & offline-first cache

Clear Mint is offline-first: much of your financial data is cached in your browser’s local storage so the app is fast and works without a constant connection. This data stays on your device and is cleared when you clear your browser storage or sign out. It is not an advertising or tracking mechanism.

4. No advertising or tracking

Clear Mint runs no advertising networks and sets no third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not sell or rent your personal information, we do not use your financial data for advertising, and we do not use data received from Google sign-in for advertising (see our Limited Use disclosure). The only logos you see next to transactions are fetched from our logo provider to help you recognize merchants — they are not ad placements.

5. Affiliate & referral disclosure

Clear Mint does not currently run affiliate, referral, or sponsored-content programs, and we do not earn commissions on products shown in the app. If we ever introduce such a program, we will clearly disclose it here and at the point where it appears, and it will never change the data-handling commitments above.

6. Managing cookies & consent

You can clear or block cookies and local storage through your browser settings at any time; note that blocking strictly necessary items will stop you from signing in. Because Clear Mint does not use non-essential advertising or analytics trackers, there is nothing extra to opt into. If we ever add non-essential trackers, we will request your explicit, informed consent before they run, consistent with Quebec’s Law 25 and applicable privacy law, and provide a way to withdraw it.
